PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for allowing a data processor to efficiently perform access to the picture data of a memory in a multiple format. SOLUTION: A picture processing system is provided with a burst memory, a data processor, and a data buffer connected between the burst memory and the data processor. The data buffer is provided with a block memory 81 connected with the burst memory and the data processor and an access controller 82 connected with the block memory 81, the data processor, and the burst memory. The access controller 82 transfers the data from the burst memory to the block memory 81 in a format designated by the data processor. The access controller 82 transfers the formatted data from the block memory 81 to the data processor. The format includes data sampled from a data block, or a data line, or spatial discrete position in a picture data frame.
