Control procedure in which the gearing unit torque is measured so that oscillations in the engine rotation speed can be minimized. During a gear change the control unit does not influence the engine torque, except if the rotation speed exceeds an extreme value for rotation speed at which time the controller takes over to limit rotation speed. An Independent claim is made for a device for controlling engine speed.
