PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold for an optical element capable of suppressing occurrence of flashes. SOLUTION: This mold 3 for an optical element molds an optical material 1 received in a cavity 3a enclosed by a top force 4, a bottom force 5 and a trunk mold 6 where a linear expansion coefficient of the top force 4 and the bottom force 5 isα1, and a linear expansion coefficient of the trunk mold 6 isα2, a relation (α1>α2) in which the linear expansion coefficientα1 of the top force 4 and the bottom force 5 exceeds the linear expansion coefficientα2 of the trunk mold 6, is established. Further, when an outer diameter of an optical element transfer face of the top force 4 and the bottom force 5 is set to be L1, an inner diameter of the trunk mold 6 is set to be L2, and a temperature difference from ordinary temperature to a molding peak temperature is set to beΔT, a relation (α1×ΔT×L1=α2×ΔT×L2) wherein a multiplicative value of the linear expansion coefficientα1 of the top force 4 and the bottom force 5, the optical element transfer face outer diameter L1 and the temperature differenceΔT is equal to a multiplicative value of the linear expansion coefficientα2 of the trunk mold 6, the inner diameter L2, and the temperature differenceΔT is preferably provided.
