PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp socket allowing prevention of degradation of a casing and allowing miniaturization. SOLUTION: This fluorescent lamp socket comprises a nearly box-like body 1 open to the rear side, having an external diameter, a width and a height nearly equal to an external diameter of a straight tube fluorescent lamp; and a cover covering the rear side of the body 1. By engaging protrusions 3 formed on the upper end face of the cover with engagement holes 2 formed in the upper end face of the body 1 with peripheral end parts of the cover and the body 1 engaged with each other, the body 1 and the cover are integrated. The rear side of the cover is formed with cylindrical projecting parts 21 projecting from the tip end of a cylinder end part 12, and fitted in an opening part formed in a mounting plate 4. The cylindrical projecting parts 21 align a casing with the mounting plate 4.
