PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating material that shows excellent curtain stability on the curtain coating, and can stably and efficiently give coated products, when the coating material is combined with a curtain coater. SOLUTION: This is a synthetic resin coating material and is useful as a coating material for a curtain coater with high curtain stability satisfying the following conditions (a), (b), (c) and (d): a) The number-average molecular weight of the resin included in the coating material is >=10,000; b) The viscosity is 200-600 mPa.s when measured with an E-type viscometer under rotation of 50 rpm at 25 deg.C; c) The viscosity is 230-690 mPa.s when measured with the E-type viscometer under rotation of 5 rpm at 25 deg.C; d) The ratio of the viscosity measured under 5 rpm rotation to that measured under 50 rpm is >=1.15.
