<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for high-speed movement estimation for real-time moving video encoding. SOLUTION: This method includes a) a stage wherein a layer 1 is provided by lowering the resolution of a layer 0 and a layer 2 is provided by lowering the resolution of the layer 1, b) a stage for calculating the mean absolute error in a search area of the layer 2, c) a stage for selecting the position where the mean absolute error value calculated in the stage (b) is minimum as the initial search point of the layer 1, (d) a stage for further selecting another initial search point of the layer 1, e) a stage for calculating the mean absolute error of the search area of the layer 1, f) a stage for selecting the position where the mean absolute error value becomes minimum in the stage (e) as the search center point of the layer 0, g) a stage for calculating the mean absolute error of the search area of the layer 0 selected in the stage (f), and h) a stage for determining a final moving vector with the position information calculated in the stage (g) and distance information based upon the origin.</p> |
