PURPOSE: A method and a device are provided to enumerate the record pulse suitable for various optical record medium, generate base signals from the enumerated counts and generate record pulse control signals by the base signals. CONSTITUTION: A method for generating record pulse suitable for various optical record medium comprises first to third steps. In the first step, the start and end points of the first pulse, multi pulse columns, last pulse and cooling pulse consisting record pulse according to the kinds of the optical record medium is enumerated on the basis of the rise and fall points of a record mark. In the second step, the counts obtained in the first step are stored. In the third step, bias power control signals, erase power control signals, peak power control signals and cooling power control signals are generated in reference of the counts.
