PURPOSE: A rotary type internal combustion engine is provided to reduce volume of the engine and improve efficiency of engine by allowing the exhaust gas to be completely emitted without being mixed with the sucked gas. CONSTITUTION: An internal combustion engine comprises a casing(26) having an intake port(21) and an exhaust port(22) formed at the upper end of the casing, and an ignition plug or a fuel injection device arranged at the lower end of the casing; a rotor(23) having a blade(24) and which is installed within the case. When the rotor rotates in a counter-clockwise direction, a gas mixture or air is introduced through the intake port formed at the casing, by the blade of the rotor which rotates as being tightly attached to the inner surface of the casing by a coil spring(24-d). Thus-introduced air flows into a combustion chamber(25) and is compressed. At this time, an ignition plug or an injection nozzle installed within the combustion chamber ignites or injects fuel, the fuel contained in the combustion chamber expands and pushes the blade. Then, the exhaust gas is discharged through the exhaust port of the casing.
