PURPOSE: A parking safety device and control method the same is provided to prevent a vehicle, which is parked on a slope, from sliding backward, by automatically operating a main brake when parked on a slope. CONSTITUTION: A device and method comprises: an engine sensing part(100) to detect on/off of an engine and to output the signal; a side brake sensing part(200) to detect on/off of a side brake and to output the signal; a control part(300) to receive the signals of the engine and the side brake sensing part, and to output an operating signal of a main brake when the engine is off and the side brake is on; an automatic control part(400) of the main brake to receive the operating signal of the control part and to operate the main brake.
