PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optical waveguide wherein the radiating loss of the light wave of waveguide light at the inflection point of a radius curvature in the optical waveguide having an S shape or segment bending is reduced and the miniaturization of an optical circuit is realized. SOLUTION: This optical waveguide is composed of a cladding part 2 formed on a substrate 1 and a core part formed in the cladding part 2, and the core part is formed by connecting the part between the curved core parts 3a, 3b whose radius of curvature are 5 to 50 mm with the linear core part 4 whose length L is 0.4-0.5 mm. The radiating loss of light wave at the inflection point of the bending optical waveguide is largely reduced by relaxing the polarization of the distribution of intensity of light wave in the curved core parts 3a, 3b and by maximizing the overlapping of the distribution of intensity. |
