PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a candle flame as a light source, and to enable observation of beautiful light from the outside. SOLUTION: In this luminaire, a transparent inner vessel 1 which opens upwardly houses a candle 2, a transparent outer vessel 3 which open upwardly houses the inner vessel 1 with a gap 4 present between a circumferential wall of the inner vessel 1 and a circumferential wall of the outer vessel 3, and the gap 4 is provided with a light scattering layer 6 comprising translucent light scattering objects 5. The gap 4 can be filled with the light scattering objects 5 having two or more kinds of different colors or shapes, while the gap 4 can be filled with an incombustible liquid such as water together with the light scattering objects 5. For the inner vessel 2 fixed immovable to the outer vessel 3 with a fixture, the luminaire is also suitable as an emergency luminaire.
