PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ranging device capable of preventing erroneous ranging even if subjects to be photographed at different distances are mixed in a ranging area by judging whether ranging result of a first point and a second point in a photographing screen satisfies predetermined conditions or not and determin ing whether ranging of a third point is done or not based on the results of the judgement. SOLUTION: First distance information is ranged by a central light projection spot to judge whether this ranging result is nearer than a short distance comparison value or not (S1, S2). This is judged in a second judging part by referring to second distance information by right or left second light projection means. In a third judging part, a lens is reeled out based on ranging data nearer among second distance information obtained by ranging after R point ranging (S4) and L point ranging (S5) are done (S6). Consequently, even a subject to be photographed which is not positioned in a central part of a photographing screen is prevented from erroneously ranged due to spot light out of place. |
