<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for carrying out sterilizing treatment of brown rice, hardly damaging the quality of a large amount of the brown rice, capable or readily and efficiently sterilizing the brown rice at a normal temperature under a normal pressure, having high safety, and hardly causing the problem of disruption of ozone layer. SOLUTION: This apparatus 1 for carrying out a sterilizing treatment of brown rice has a feeding means 2 for feeding the brown rice, a hopper part 3 for storing the brown rice, a vessel 4 for a sterilizing treatment, having discharging electrodes comprising many arranged needle-like electrodes, and a grounding side electrode comprising a flat electrode having the whole surface covered with an insulation plate, and an electric source for charging a high voltage between the electrodes. The brown rice is put between the electrodes, and the high voltage generated by the electric source is charged to the electrodes to generate pulse streamer discharge between the electrodes and to sterilize the brown rice thereby.</p> |
