PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve engine output and reliability and to further improve fuel consumption. SOLUTION: Cooling water is delivered to a cylinder head 3 from a water pump 2, and cooling water flown out of the cylinder head 3 is delivered to a cylinder block 5. Temperature of coiling water flowing in the cylinder block 5 is sufficiently raised without raising cooling water temperature on the side of the cylinder head 3. Cooling water flown out of the cylinder head 3 is branched to the side of the cylinder block 5, the side of a radiator 1 and the side of a by-pass channel (d). A flow rate on the side of the cylinder block 5 and the side of the radiator 1 is increased in accordance with rise of an engine load, and a flow rate on the side of the by-pass channel (d) is reduced by a cooling water control valve 4. It is possible to provide cooling capacity of the cylinder head 3 and the cylinder block 5 suitable for a heating value of an engine and to constant hold constant cooling capacity on the cylinder block 5.
