PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a picture processing technique which is effective for suppression of the occurrence of moire or the like. SOLUTION: A picture is given to a periodic picture area extraction part 10, and a periodic picture area where a periodic picture pattern is repeated is extracted from the picture. At the time, a periodicity index calculation part 20 calculates a periodicity index indicating the degree of the picture pattern repetition. Meanwhile, the picture is given to a difference picture generation part 30 to generate a difference picture. A contrast extent calculation part 50 calculates the extent of contrast as an index indicating the contrast based on this difference picture. Thereafter, a blur extent determination part 60 and a shift extent determination part 70 determine the extent of blur as the degree of blur processing and the extent of shift as the degree of shift processing based on the periodicity index and the extent of contrast. A blur processing part 95 and a shift processing part 90 perform blur processing and shift processing in accordance with the determined extents of blur and shift respectively. |
