PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device for a vehicle to drive a steering mechanism by means of a steering actuator according to a steering operation angle, wherein the actuator is made compact in capacity and emergency steering at the time of mulfuction in the device is made possible. SOLUTION: A shaft connecting/disconnecting means 7 is provided between a steering shaft 4 and an operation shaft 6 to thereby perform connection/ disconnection between the shaft 4, 6 and a steering drive means 9 is controlled so that a steering angle detection value may become a target steering angle corresponding to a steering angle detection value. Accordingly, it is possible to implement variable controlling of a steering gain according to a vehicle speed through disconnection of the shafts 4, 6 at the normal running time and use operation force of driver as a steering force through connection of the shafts 4, 6. |
