PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device and an image-forming device to be miniaturized by reducing the mounting space. SOLUTION: This device comprises an inverter circuit 1 for inverting a DC voltage into a high-frequency voltage, a switch 2 connected to the inverter circuit 1, a first discharge lamp 3, a second discharge lamp 4 and a discharge lamp lighting control means 5. The first discharge lamp 3 has a current-limiting inductance, connected in series to the inverter circuit 1 and a capacitor connected in parallel to the non-power supply side of a filament by way of the switch 2 and is lighted by the resonance action of a series resonance circuit consisting of the current-limiting inductance and the capacitor. The second discharge lamp 4 has a current-limiting inductance connected in series to the inverter circuit 1 and a capacitor connected in parallel to the non-power supply side of a filament by way of the switch 2 and is lighted by the resonance action of a series resonance circuit consisting of the current-limiting inductance and the capacitor. The discharge lamp lighting control means 5 opens/closes the switch 2 for lighting the first and second discharge lamps with a suspension period. |
