PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a pottery board for a building finish material capable of not only intactly expressing a traditional taste and beauty but also substitutable for the building finish material such as a stone or a tile and having a high added value, and to provide a method for producing the pottery board. SOLUTION: This pottery board for a building finish material is produced by compounding raw materials at compositional ratios of 67.87±1% of SiO2, 17.63±1% of Al2O3, 3.7±1% of CaO, 8.07±1% of K2O, 1.61±1% of Na2O and 1.12±1% of Fe2O3, mixing water therewith, kneading the resultant mixture, forming a boardlike ware, carrying out an inlay treatment, subsequently laminating the obtained ware to dried boards having many through-holes formed therein, compressing and drying the ware at 150-200 deg.C temperature for >=15 h, primarily baking the resultant ware at 800-900 deg.C temperature for a prescribed time, glazing the baked ware, drying the glazed ware and then secondarily baking the dried ware at 1,250-1,350 deg.C temperature for a prescribed time.
