PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a headlamp for a vehicle having no problems of a conventional headlight obtaining a plurality of light distributing modes by one lighting source in that a link mechanism is required due to performing its converting operation by a linear action actuator and so this complex construction incurs a high cost. SOLUTION: According to the present invention, the headlamp for a vehicle includes an electromagnetic actuator 6 whose output axis is constructed as a rotating axis 62. The rotating axis 62 of the electromagnetic actuator 6 is provided with two stoppers for giving two light distributing positions and a return spring 65 for returning to any one of the two light distributing positions in an electric current state of the electromagnetic actuator 6. By doing so, there is no need for the link mechanism having been required for adapting to the action of the converting mechanism and giving rise to a problem of a back-lash, etc., and thus the problem of the present invention is solved.
