PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance operability of a gas lighter even for a person having a large hand by an arrangement wherein ignition is locked by disabling rotation of a lateral wheel and providing an unlocking operation in a series of operations for generating a spark through rotation of a file wheel incident to operation of the lateral wheel and for ejecting fuel gas through depressing operation of a working lever. SOLUTION: The rotary shaft 65 of a lateral wheel 62 bonded to the opposite sides of the file wheel 61 in an ignition means 6 is supported rotatably and movably in the pushing direction of a firing stone 64 by a post 25. Ignition is locked by stopping a protrusion 62a provided on the outer circumference of the lateral wheel 62 at the stopping part 85 of a cap 8 thereby disabling rotation of the file wheel 61. On the other hand, the lighter is ignited by pushing the lateral wheel 62 to disengage the cap 8 thereby unlocking the file wheel 61. |
