PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the gradation characteristics of a color gradation image by improving the reproducibility of low saturation colors and to improve the gradation characteristics and the resolution of a monochromatic gradation image part. SOLUTION: The apparatus has an image data output means for outputting monochromatic image data and artificial color image data separately and independently so that an achromatic region and a chromatic region can be precisely separated. Therefore, the separation process of the achromatic region and the chromatic region can be simplified, and a high quality medical image can be printed out.
