PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control device capable of accurately sensing a phase shift between a crank and a cam ill influencing the engine operating performance resulting from elongation of a timing belt (or timing chain) or an error generated at assembling. SOLUTION: From a computing part 38, the timing signals for crank angle and cam angle are input to a phase judging part 50, and therefrom the phase difference (x) is judged, and the obtained phase signal is output to a fuel injection part 48, an ignition control part 49, and an alarm control part 51.
