PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new cyclic polyether compound useful as a discotic liquid crystal material, and to provide an electrolyte which has anisotropic ion conductivity. SOLUTION: This cyclic polyether compound represented by general formula (II) (X is CO or CH2; R is a 1 to 20C linear or branched alkyl, provided that one or more CH2 groups in the alkyl may be substituted by O, CO, 1,4-phenylene, CH=CH, C≡C or epoxy and that hydrogen atoms in the alkyl may be substituted by fluorine atoms), and the electrolyte containing at least one kind of the cyclic polyether compound and a metal salt. |
