METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING APODIZED OPTICAL FIBER GRATING USING AMPLITUDE MASK

PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing an apodized optical fiber grating using an amplitude mask is provided to manufacture the apodized optical fiber grating without a precision control device easy. CONSTITUTION: The method for manufacturing an apodized optical fiber grating using an amplitude mask includes following steps. The period of the optical fiber grating and the width for each stripe formed in the optical fiber(37) is determined. The longitudinal ratio of distance between convergence or divergence point of a lens system and the amplitude mask to the distance between the convergence or divergence point and the optical fiber(37) is determined. The period of the amplitude mask(36) is set to identify the longitudinal ratio and the transversal ratio of the period of the amplitude mask to the period of the optical fiber grating. The thickness of the amplitude mask(36) is set to matching the pattern of the optical fiber grating to optical pattern formed on the mask.
