The rear seat adjuster for a motor vehicle has rollers (10) in a guide groove (32) on a support (20,31) fixed to the vehicle. The base of the groove forms a bearing surface for the roller. A locking lever (40) mounted on the support moves between an open and a closed position and has a first arm (42) extending across the groove in the open position and a second arm (43) which covers the roller in the locked position. There are locks (37) to prevent rotation of the lever on the support.
