The supporting bandage has an index mark at a set distance from its free end to indicate the length required for starting or finishing turns round the foot, and one or more marked points at a distance from the index mark corresponding to the length of a winding round the ankle to give the required pressure for feet of different sizes, i.e. small, medium and large. The supporting bandage consists of a strip (22) of elasticated material of constant width and fixed length, with a stretch capability of at least 50 per cent. It has an index mark (I) at a set distance from its free end to indicate the length required for starting or finishing turns (3) round the foot, and one or more marked points (T1, T2, T3) at a distance from the index mark corresponding to the length of a winding (6) round the ankle to give the required pressure for feet of different sizes, i.e. small, medium and large. The bandage is also marked with foot symbols (13) to indicate the point at which it should pass over the instep.
