PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeding mechanism capable of feeding a thick medium even through a feeding route with a small curvature. SOLUTION: An auxiliary press-contact plate 12 is oscillatably mounted in a medium feeding direction downstream of a position where a hopping roller 4 comes into press-contact with a separation pad 5. The auxiliary press-contact plate 12 comprises an abutting-guide part 14 against which a tip of a medium 2 abutts and a projecting part 15 which is formed opposite the abutting-guide part 14. When a thick medium 2 abutts against the abutting-guide part 14, the auxiliary press-contact plate 12 oscillated to shift the projecting part 15 upward so as to wind the medium 2 to the hopping roller 4. Thus, a feeding force of the medium 2 by the hopping roller 4 is increased.
