LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYMANNURONATE

摘要

The present invention provides a process to prepare low molecular weight polymannuronate of average molecular weight between 10<3> and 10<5> through partial hydrolysis of alginate with organic acid, followed by the separation method using solubility difference dependent on pH. The low molecular polymannuronate has functions such as repressing obesity, lowering the levels of total cholesterol, triglyceride, phospholipid and LDL cholesterol, increasing HDL cholesterol, and decreasing GOT and GPT activities. Various kinds of functional foods and health-aids can be prepared using the low molecular polymannuronate.
