PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift control device capable of settting a lower limit value of the transmission gear ratio when switched to a manual shift mode without impairing operability of manual shift operation. SOLUTION: This shift control device for a continuously variable transmission provided with a shift mode switching means for switching a shift mode to an automatic shift mode for setting the transmission gear ratio on the basis of an operation state and a manual shift mode for setting a lower limit value of a range of the transmission gear ratio set by the automatic shift mode on the basis of manual operation and a lower limit value changing means for optionally setting a transmission gear ratio width by changing the lower limit value in the manual shift mode, is provided with an initial value setting means (a step S4) for setting an initial value of the lower limit value when switched to the manual shift mode from the automatic shift mode to the transmission gear ratio of a value larger than the minimum transmission gear ratio settable by the automatic shift mode.
