SOLUTION: An ac power supply 35 is converted into a dc power supply with a dc power circuit 37 comprising a voltage doubler rectifying circuit, and an inverter main circuit 44 is connected to the dc power circuit 37 and used to drive a washing machine motor 33. An electrode 60 for sensing water is provided in the lower portion of the washing machine and is connected to a circuit ground GND2 via a dividing circuit 61. A voltage Vk produced in the dividing circuit 61 is detected to detect whether or not there is an abnormality concerning wetting.
