PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe method for producing a graft copolymer of a polyvinyl ester by which the utilization even in industrial uses can be made. SOLUTION: This method for producing the graft copolymer of the polyvinyl ester comprises polymerizing (a) at least one kind of a vinyl ester of an aliphatic 1-24C carboxylic acid in the presence of (b) a polyether which is solid at room temperature and having general formula I and, as necessary, (c) at least another kind of monomer by using a free radical organic initiator system in which a liquid polyalkylene glycol is used as a solvent for the free radical initiator system.
