PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the residual capacity of a chargeable battery. SOLUTION: The chargeable battery residual capacity detector is provided with a residual capacity storage part 5 integrating a current detected by a current detection part 3 and storing it, a maximum capacity storage part 7 storing the integrated residual capacity stored in the residual capacity storage part 5 in the completion of charging as a maximum capacity, a map storage part 21 storing a relationship between a terminal voltage of a battery 1 in a discharging time and a residual capacity ratio as a map, and a zero capacity calculating part 22 referring to the map of the map storage part 21 so as to calculate a capacity (zero capacity) from the maximum capacity and a residual capacity when discharging is stopped after a VLB voltage is attained, and a residual capacity monitoring part 20 detects the residual capacity of the battery by correcting the integrated capacity with the zero capacity in discharging time.
