PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ASIC in which the capacity of a storage RAM can be reduced while guaranteeing the degree of freedom in the modification of waveform mode information, and an ink jet printer mounted with it. SOLUTION: In the ASIC for controlling a print engine, a plurality of pieces of waveform mode information corresponding to head waveform modes are stored sequentially, using [start address]+[offset] as a head address, in an waveform mode information storage RAM 11 with no intermediary of blank area. A blank area (preliminary area PRE) is secured in the RAM 11 independently from the waveform mode information and a waveform mode information selector reads out waveform mode information corresponding to the head waveform mode from the waveform mode information storage RAM 11 while specifying by offset. A head waveform generating means 14 generates a head waveform at a specified timing based on the waveform mode information.
