PURPOSE: To provide a preformed porous ferrous metal product that maintains sufficient adhesion to base material even when it is used in a casting process that has a certain time lag from molten metal pouring to completion of impregnation, and to provide a production process for composite metallic parts using said porous metal product. CONSTITUTION: In impregnating a preform M placed in a casting mould with molten metal under a casting process having a certain time lag in completion of impregnation after the end of pouring, the preform M under this invention makes use of a porous metallic product of ferrous metal containing 10 to 40 weight percent of chromium.
