PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoactivation agent for damaging or impairing a target cell containing a selectively accumulated photosensitizer, which exists in a blood flow of an intact animal. SOLUTION: The target cell containing a selectively accumulated photosensitizer is impaired or damaged. The target cell is present in the blood of an intact animal and non-target cells are also present in the blood. The target cell is irradiated with light through at least a part of the skin of the intact animal at an intensity to selectively impair or damage the target cell but free from considerable damaging effect on the non-target cell. The target cell includes leukemia cell, virus-infected cell, parasite-containing cell and microorganisms such as bacteria, parasite and free virus.
