PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain releasing performance of wet paper nearly equal to or higher than that in the case when a press roll is prepared by natural granite in a dehydrating apparatus of a papermaking machine provided with the press roll prepared by forming a spray deposit by a flame coating method. SOLUTION: This dehydrating apparatus is equipped with a press roll 15 prepared by forming a spray deposit by a flame coating method and a PTFE- based resin-applying member 30 constituted as a material containing PTFE-based resin, and the PTFE-based resin-imparting member 30 is constituted so that the PTFE-based resin is pressed to the outer peripheral surface of the press roll 15 so as to apply the resin to the outer peripheral surface of the press roll 15.
