PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underlying paper feeding type feeder capable of suppressing the occurrence of missing in feed, such as an overlapping feed and a lost feed of documents, without regulating the press force of a paper feeding part against a transport roller. SOLUTION: This feeder comprises a feed paper table on which a plurality of documents is loaded; a transport roller making contact with the forward end of the lowermost surface of the documents loaded on the feed paper table and taking out and feeding, in order, from a lowermost document; a separation part to make contact with the transport roller and separate the documents on the transport roller one by one; a spring bringing the separation art into contact with the transport roller by a given force; a loading amount regulating part situated in a casing above the feed paper table and regulating a loading amount of the documents; a sheet metal capable of elastically deforming in correspondence with a change of the loading amount of the documents loaded on the feed paper table; and a paper feed part having one end fixed at the loading amount regulating part and the other end making contact with the topmost layer surface of the documents loaded on the feed paper table and having a protrusion part protruding along the side of the separation part.
