PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article gripping device capable of eliminating exchange of handling parts of an article even in the case when there are many model- changed items without exchanging the handling parts of the article each time when the article is changed even in the case when a shape and an outline of the article to be supplied to a line is different. SOLUTION: An interval between both grippers 15a, 15b and an opening and closing angle of each of the grippers 15a, 15b are adjusted by moving the grippers 15a, 15b in a direction to contact and separate in the case when a shape and an outline of a container 1 to be supplied to a product manufacturing line 2 are different. At this time, the container 1 to be gripped between a pair of the grippers 15a, 15b is fixed by respectively absorbing a change of the interval between the both grippers 15a, 15b and a change of the opening and closing angle of each of the grippers 15a, 15b in accordance with size of the container 1 by a positional change absorbing mechanism 31.
