PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for monitoring an oxygen sensor in an automobile improving reliability of a trouble recognition method for the oxygen sensor so that discharge of exhaust gas can be reduced by early maintaining the oxygen sensor making wrong operation. SOLUTION: A lean or rich duration time of an oxygen sensor is measured, a compared time relating to this measurement is calculated, after a correction value of the compared time is calculated based on a learning value of P-jump Delay, and an accumulated value of the duration time is compared with an accumulated value of the compared time, so as to determine malfunction of the oxygen sensor.
