PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine comprising a brush stopper which surely prevents running-away of a motor brush and is capable of extending the life-span of brush up to the limit thereof, by fixing the brush after it has been used sufficiently up to the effective length. SOLUTION: A spring guide 32b for guiding a brush spring 33 to a case surface of a brush case 32 along the longitudinal direction of a brush is formed wider than an opening of the brush case, the stopper 32a is formed at the opening in the commutator side to limit a pressing force of the brush spring 33, and a cover 32c is also provided at the end surface in the opposite side of the commutator to restrict running-away of the brush spring.
