PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fax server by which received data can be easily managed by making a flexible contact with other servers. SOLUTION: When the picture data or electronic mail received by a FAX server does not correspond to the conditions on deciding a destination, the picture data or electronic mail is transferred to the server, if the server has been registered in the FAX server (S5). Whether or not there is a server in the same segment is inquired, even if the server has not been registered (S6). When there is a deliverable server, the picture data or electronic mail is transferred to the server (S8). Thus, in case that the picture data or electronic mail correspond to the conditions on deciding a destination in the deliverable server, the picture data or e-mail is to be delivered to the corresponding destination.
