PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a working method of a cylinder body capable of satisfactorily forming an end portion of an approximate true circle by directly processing an elliptical cylinder body and also capable of particularly improving working capability. SOLUTION: In the working method of the cylinder body working an end portion 12 of an elliptically-sectioned cylinder body 1 at an approximate true circle, the working method has a first process forming the end portion 12 of the cylinder body 1 at the approximate true circle having approximate the same axis as the central axis of the cylinder body 1, and a second process processing the end portion at the approximate true circle while shortening the diameter of the end portion by rotating the end portion around its central axis. Further, another working method of a cylinder body has a first process forming the end portion of the cylinder body apart from the center axis of the cylinder body at an approximate true circle, and a second process working the end portion at the approximate true circle while shortening the diameter of the end portion by rotating the end portion around its central axis. The above first process is provided with a press work that pushes a circle die into inside the end portion 12 of the cylinder body 1, and the above second process is provided with a spinning work.
