PURPOSE: A center pillar of a vehicle is provided to prevent the head of a passenger from being injured by absorbing impact efficiently with deforming an absorbing member in multiple steps at a collision. CONSTITUTION: An absorbing member is installed in a center pillar of a vehicle body to absorb impact applied to the head of a passenger at a collision. The absorbing member is composed of a main bracket(2) fixed in a trim panel of the center pillar through a fixing member with a fastener and a spring nut; a rotation restricting bracket(3) fixed in the main bracket by welding; an impact absorbing bracket(4) fixed in the main bracket by welding, and separated from the rotation restricting bracket; and a pad(6) made of urethane foam material to cover the brackets. Impact is absorbed in the pad, and the impact absorbing bracket is deformed at the collision. Impact is absorbed and dispersed with spreading brackets without protruding or bending, and the head is prevented from being injured.
