A method, comprising: receiving, by an apparatus, first data at a first bitrate and second data at a second bitrate faster than the first bitrate; de-interleaving, by the apparatus, the first data into first de-interleaved data split into first and second portions thereof for supply of the corresponding first and second portions to respective first and second color channels, and de-interleaving the second data into second de-interleaved data split into first and second portions thereof for supply of the corresponding first and second portions to the first and second color channels, respectively; and controlling wireless transmission of the first and second data in a single modulated light beam transmitted by a multi-color light emitting diode (LED) configured for outputting first and second LED-based data links on the respective first and second color channels in the single modulated light beam, the controlling including: outputting the first portions of the first and second de-interleaved data to the multi-color LED for transmission on the first data link of the first color channel, outputting the second portions of the first and second de-interleaved data to the multi-color LED for transmission on the second data link of the second color channel, and controlling transmission of the first and second data links, on the respective first and second color channels, by the multi-color LED within the single modulated light beam.
