PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insert which is able to transfer an irregular part to the surface of moldings. SOLUTION: The insert 15 which is arranged inside the upper half 11 and the lower half 10 of a mold to be used for forming the moldings of a thermoplastic resin and constitutes a part of a cavity 14 formed in the mold, is constituted of an insert body 115 made of a zirconia ceramic, an active metallic coating 16 formed on the surface 115A making up the cavity 14 of the insert body 115 and a metallic layer 16 formed on the active metallic coating 16. In addition, the irregular part is formed on the surface of the metallic layer 16.
