PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter capable of appropriately being used for a liquid to be treated which is liable to cause an adverse effect on a filtrate due to retention of the liquid inside the filter. SOLUTION: This filter is provided with: a filter medium formed by placing a pair of porous supporting material sheets on the both surfaces of filter membrane along them respectively, folding the filter membrane provided with the porous supporting sheets in a pleated state and sealing the both side edges of the membrane; a porous annular support 11 which has a porous inner cylinder, a porous outer cylinder and upper and lower covers 7 and 9 and in which the filter medium is received so as to be interposed between the porous inner cylinder and the porous outer cylinder and further, between the upper and lower covers 7 and 9, in such a state that each of both the upper and low end edges of the filter medium is liquid-tightly fusion- bonded; a housing 15 for receiving the porous annular support 11; and a head having a to-be-treated liquid inlet port 19, a gas vent hole 17 and a filtrate outlet port 21; wherein the outer cylinder is provided on its side with a non-porous first surface and a first projection and a second projection, which projections are formed so as to interpose the first surface between them, and a first flow passage for introducing a liquid to be treated is formed from the first surface, first and second projections and housing 15.
