PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque detecting device for power steering of a simple constitution with lightweight characteristics. SOLUTION: An upper shaft 1 with a handle 2 at the upper end is connected to a lower shaft 3 linked to an axle 7 by a torsion bar 8. A first part 13 to which light is projected constituted of light transmitting parts 14a, 14b, etc., is arranged in the circumferential direction with the axis center of twisting A-A of the torsion bar 8 as a center, and a second part 15 to which light is projected constituted of a light transmitting part 16 and linked to the lower shaft 3 is arranged in such a way as to oppose the part 13. An optical sensor 17 constituted of a light emitting part 18 and a light receiving part 19 is arranged above and below the first and second parts 13 and 15. By detecting light transmitted between the light transmitting parts 14a, 14b, etc., of the first part 13 rotated according to the twisting of the torsion bar 8 when the handle 2 is operated and the light transmitting part 16 of the second part 15 constrained by the axle 7, the amount of twisting of the torsion bar 8 is detected by the optical sensor 17. |
