PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olefin polymerization catalyst manufactured from an organic aluminum cocatalyst, a selectivity-controlling agent, and a procatalyst obtained from a precursor containing magnesium and titanium, and also an alkoxide component, and a method for polymerizing and copolymerizing anα-olefin, especially propylene using the catalyst. SOLUTION: The catalyst is highly active and at the same time stereospecific, and further it has high productivity and gives a large amount of a polymer having a desired excellent property.
