<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that the transfer to the next operation is heretofore not possible unless the specified time elapses after the application of the brake and constitution is heretofore intricate. SOLUTION: The magnetic tape driver comprises a tape drive means of rotationally driving a tape reel while controlling its speed to allow a magnetic tape to travel, a speed detecting means of detecting the traveling speed of the magnetic tape and a brake means of stopping the traveling of the magnetic tape by applying the brake to the rotation of the tape reel in the time meeting the traveling speed detected by this speed detecting means. When the braking is expected not to take time like when the traveling speed is slow, the braking time may be made relatively small and the time after the start of the stop operation before the transfer to the next operation in the traveling of the magnetic tape can be shortened by the simple constitution.</p> |
