PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound in a pregabalin form, useful for treating pain in particular, and acting so as to increase the duration in the plasma of the active ingredient when administered to humans or other animals. SOLUTION: The objective alkylamino acid derivative is a compound of the general formula (III) (P is H or methyl; Q is an unstable amine or amide- forming organic group to be eliminated from human or animal body; R1 is a straight-chain or branched-chain 2-6C alkyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl or phenyl; R2 is H or methyl; R3 is H, methyl or carboxy; and R4 is H or an ester-forming group selected from a (substituted) 1-6C alkyl to be eliminated from human or animal body, benzyl and phenyl; wherein, when R1 is phenyl, excepting the case that R2, R3 and R4 are each H) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of any salt-forming compound within the category of the above compound.
